Can anyone shed any light on the hainting refrain sung over and over by a female voice we first hear at 1:12 then repeated thtoughout the song? I imagine what she sings to be an indian language/dialect. Which? If she is, what are her words and what is she saying and meaning to convey? It is very beautiful and haunting. Anyone? Anything? I just learned that Robbie Robertson had passed away. I always loved his músic. But what I admire most was his background, where he was from. I'm from Central América, but I think that native americans from the north have always been very brave people.

....i am the bald black shirtless dancer in the video...i was telling a new friend of mine about my work in this video so i decided to look at it to see which version of the video to recommend to him....only to discover that ROBBIE is dead...so i will discuss what it was like working on the video....no shade but even though i was well aware of who ROBBIE was..and respected his work......the STAR of the video was the DIRECTOR....MARY LAMBERT....she was SIZZLING HOT in the business....at that time for her EXTREMELY CONTROVERSIAL VIDEO.....LIKE A PRAYER FOR MADONNA....so the PLANET was all about her....i was HARDLY CONCERNED ABOUT WHATEVER ROBBIE WAS DOING...auditioning for her was a JOY and a pleasure...the choreographer was ADAM SHANKMAN....i believe it was his FIRST JOB as a CHOREOGRAPHER....i HAD to get the GIG....there was NO WAY i could have to record show that i was NOT GOOD ENOUGH....not only did i get the gig ...i was MARY'S FAVORITE DANCER....she asked me all kinds of questions about NEW ORLEANS....where we shot the video.......what did my TATTOOS and PIERCINGS MEAN....SHE would rub my TATTOOED SHOULDERS FOR GOOD LUCK....... she asked what were my SPIRITUAL BELIEFS....on and on ...and i loved every moment with her...i had all kinds of rehearsals with ADAM because she really wanted to SHOWCASE ME and i was supposed to do all kinds of excellent TECHNICAL DANCING....for her to THROW IT OUT at the LAST MINUTE....LOL...and i just VIBED to the music...at times it was strange because of my dance training i kept doing technical stuff and she and ADAM had to keep me loose while we were shooting because i kept falling into doing technical dance movement....i do really appreciate her using my beautiful STATUE OF MERCURY TURNS that you can see in the video....they are very LYRICAL...and work well with the song...one of the most beautiful things in the video is i got to wear....GIORGIO ARMANI HAUTE COUTURE...i KNEW that the BUDGET WAS HUGE BECAUSE they BOOKED ....MARY LAMBERT ...LOL...BUT FOR THE DANCERS TO WEAR....ARMANI HAUTE HAUTE COUTURE....INSANE...and all of this was coming out of ROBBIES' ROYALTIES....DAMN.......the black pants i am wearing..ARMANI HAUTE COUTURE...LOL.......the gloves were one of a kind also....the sunglasses were from L.A. EYEWORKS....very high end...i met ROBBIE during the night scene and he was ....DISTANT but cool enough...i will say he looked very....very YOUTHFUL for a ROCK VETERAN....he didn't have that HAGGARD DRUG ADDICT LOOK that a LOT of those rock gods have.......his DAUGHTER is in the video...the girl in the glittery silver baby doll dress just grooving in the night scene...with the long flowing black hair.......she and i got along great and we talked though the shoot...she was so pretty and sweet...the shoot was a HUGE SUCCESS...and when i saw the video i was very proud....there's a few things i am not a fan of culturally but all in all a beautiful romantic experience...MARY and i hugged one last time and i said it was a pleasure and honor to work with her because she had worked with so many people that i really respect....out of all of them....PRINCE....she told me some AMAZING STORIES about working with him on the film....UNDER THE CHERRY MOON...a few months later ROBBIE had a HUGE FASHION SPREAD IN ROLLING STONE MAGAZINE...he was a HUGE FASHIONISTO and he had GREAT TASTE IN CLOTHES and the spread was AMAZING and i was so happy for him....the song and video had PERFECT TIMING in the NEW ALTERNATIVE MUSIC GENRE...and the NEW VIDEO CHANNEL....VH-1......it..PLAYED THE VIDEO TO DEATH....so the EXPOSURE was INSANE....it got MTV a lot of RESPECT because they ....then started taking those old school BABY BOOMER ROCK STARS WHO COULD NOT DANCE...and no longer had a 32 INCH WAIST SERIOUSLY...i was very moved when MARY had heard that i was the BEST DANCER IN NEW ORLEANS....and she was glad that the rumor was TRUE....as we hugged one last time....the video i have to say still holds up EXTREMELY WELL on every level ...it's not BUBBLE GUM...or superficial...ROBBIE looks like what he will ALWAYS BE....a VERY SERIOUS ARTIST....who held onto his TECHNIQUE and CRAFT....and had very LYRICAL and IMPORTANT THINGS to SAY...i am PROUD to have worked with him......he was a GOOD LOOKING DUDE....with a lot of STYLE and CLASS...this video is a very touching moment a DOCUMENT OF ME......when i was YOUNG....and NIMBLE........i just turned 65 two weeks ago ....and i am so GRATEFUL..and it's true....WE GROW UP SO SLOWLY....AND GROW OLD SO FAST...RIP ROBBIE....and all the BEST....FROM CORNELIUS....
